Zip.ca
Thursday, 13 November 2008 22:28

Zip.ca is a service that lets you automate DVD video renting by sending you automatically, one or more DVD selection(s) from a user created list.

Your start off by choosing which plan you would like to subscribe to.  The differences between the plans are the number of allowed DVD(s) which are “out” at the same time and the number of free DVD shipments per month.  The plans vary from 1 DVD to 8 DVDs out at a one time and from 22 free to Unlimited DVD shipments.  If you find that you would like to rent more outside of your plan you can also rent a DVD for a small fee + $2.49 for shipping and handling fee.

I have subscribed to the 3 DVD Unlimited plan for the last 2 months and I have been pleased with the service.  The only downside to this is that unless you want to pay an additional fee, there is no way of predicting the order in which your DVDs will be sent out.  They do have a ranking system on your list to set which DVD would be preferred but doesn’t seem to have done a difference in my case.  I can only assume that their computer automatically sends out the next DVD available on the list after trying to match it with the titles on top of your list.

In my first month, I was sent a total of 28 DVDs which comes to $1 per movie including taxes which saved me a lot of money on DVD rentals.

You can go to their site to have a free 7 days trial.

Desktopography
With Apple Products having such beautiful designs it only logical to have a desktop wallpaper that reflects its beauty.  Where does creativity meet design?  At DesktopographyDesktopography is the home of the Desktopography Project since 2005 and the place to download “nature/topological” themed wallpapers.

“Designers spend about 90% of their waking life in front of a computer so the most appealing genre for a wallpaper would be one that has beautiful design mixed with the all important aspect of being outdoors.” -- Desktopography

Desktopography is a great place to get wallpapers and its all free!  Which wallpaper will reflect your personality?
